Skincare for oily and blemish-prone skin

Oily, breakout-prone skin is something I have been battling with for years, and it was that which ignited my passion for skincare. I’ve recently discovered some amazing products which really work for my skin, so I thought I would share them with you.

Skinbreeze Blemish Fix Serum

I have to admit that this serum initially excited me simply because of the innovative packaging. Skinbreeze is a professional brand, I have previously trained in (perhaps best known for their microdermabrasion facials), but have more recently discovered this serum. It has an incredibly light consistency which spreads easily over the skin, leaving no trace. It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing any product at all – instead, you are left with incredible smooth, mattified skin. It contains seaweed extract, hyaluronic acid and salicylic acid and I apply this serum each night and it seems to be working wonders!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo

I have mentioned this product repeatedly and I’m not planning to stop anytime soon, because it’s one of my desert island products! This is the only skincare product which fights my relentless blackheads. I enjoy using the rest of the Effaclar range, but the Duo really stands out to me, and keeps my pores clear.

Antipodes Chia & Kiwi Seed Oil

The Antipodes Chia and Kiwi Seed Oil is a new find for me, and has completely changed the way I view facial oils. I haven’t stopped talking about this mighty oil since I was introduced to it a couple of weeks ago, and have used it daily since. It has a light consistency which absorbs into my skin quicky – so much so, that I have been applying it every morning underneath my makeup (which, incidentally it proves a great base for). This facial oil keeps my skin hydrated all day, without leaving a heavy, greasy mess!

Urban Veda Purifying Set

Towards the start of the year in particular I started to suffer with breakouts across my shoulders – something I had never experienced before. I was feeling incredibly stressed, and my body reacted badly! Although I have had numerous breakouts on my face, I hadn’t previously thought about skin clarity on the rest of the body – but it’s something that many people suffer from. I targeted my skin with the Urban Veda Purifying Body Rituals Set, which includes a Purifying Body Wash, Purifying Body Scrub and Purifying Body Lotion. The Ayurvedic-inspired range uses natural ingredients including neem and witch hazel to decongest and clarify skin. It smells fresh and minty (which really wakes you up in the morning) and is gentle yet effective at clarifying problematic skin. It has cleared my skin up beautifully!

Murad Blemish Spot Treatment

When a dreaded breakout does occur, I have been reaching for the Murad Blemish Spot Treatment. This is a treatment I have been using at night time only, as it doesn’t sit well under makeup, and can leave a slight white mark if you over-apply it. Having said that, it seems to have magical powers at clearing pesky breakouts overnight. I simply dab a little onto the affected area, and wake up to a greatly improved complexion.
