My Proactiv+ Skin Journey

 

A month ago I completely overhauled my skincare regime in attempt to clarify my breakout-prone complexion. I was introduced to the 3-Step System by Proactiv+ which claims to clear up acne-prone skin and have now been using the range for four weeks, so thought I would let you know how I’ve been getting on with the products.

As I mentioned in my last post about the Proactiv+ Approach to Skincare, I have struggled with breakouts for years and it is something that has often knocked my confidence and my self esteem.

Whilst I was really excited to give Proactiv+ a go, I was a little concerned that the products wouldn’t be right for my skin. I thought they might be a little harsh, and I know it sounds vain, but I was worried that the Complexion Perfecting Hydrator wouldn’t sit right under my foundation. Never the less, I’ve been using Proactiv+ products for a month now, so I thought I would tell you in detail about how my skin has reacted…

 

Week 1

When I first started using the Proactiv+ products, I had many blackheads over my nose, and I had spots around my jawline and neck, and a handful scattered across my face. After only 2 days of using the range, I noticed those spots on my face had cleared up, but new ones also appeared. The breakouts on my neck were apparently more stubborn and remained fairly similar in quantity and severity. The first week into my Proactiv+ journey my skin was very changeable and I must admit that I felt really concerned that new spots kept appearing.

 

Week 2

On the second week I concentrated on ensuring I thoroughly cleansed around my jaw line and applied the Pore Targeting Treatment on my neck as well as my face. I felt as though my skin was starting to accept the new products as my skin started to look a lot clearer. I still had some breakouts, but my skin looked and felt much clearer than before.

 

Week 3

On week 3 of my Proactiv+ journey, I had a little set back thanks to hormones! I experienced breakouts around my temples and around my mouth which I wasn’t particularly pleased about. Although the blackheads on my nose were hardly noticeable, I wasn’t feeling great about my complexion.

 

Week 4

My hormones have calmed down and luckily so has my complexion – my neck is now completely clear, with very few spots along my jawline, and my face looks much clearer than it has for months. I have a couple of smaller breakouts around my hairline, but other than that, I’m feeling much more positive about my skin.

 

The 3-Step System has easily slotted into my daily routine – it doesn’t take up much time at all, and I quickly got into the habit of using the products every morning and evening without fail. The Complexion Perfecting Hydrator does not affect my beloved foundation – in fact, I’ve discovered that it actually keeps shine at bay for longer than before, and it’s a great base for my makeup. The complete opposite effect to how I had imagined!

I feel like my skin has really changed over the last month and I really hope it continues to improve! I shall of course keep you updated with how my skin changes over the next few weeks.
